Dunkin’ Donuts Needs Manager

Jackson Sun:

Dunkin’ Donuts will close Monday night around 11 p.m. if the current franchisee cannot find someone willing to take over the store.

Bob Kilburn, Dunkin’s local franchise owner, is 70. He has held the company’s local franchise lease for 20 years. Kilburn is not ready to retire. But Dunkin’s corporate headquarter’s is offering Kilburn just one choice: sign another 20-year lease, or close your donut shop.

“I have asked them for a five-year extension,” Kilburn said Wednesday, “but they only offered me 20 years, and will not change.”

Kilburn owns the franchise with his partner Woody Forbes, a retired orthodontist. Kilburn said his two sons have no interest in operating the donut store that is next door to the Old Hickory Steak House off Old Hickory Boulevard.
