Large restaurant companies are cautiously negotiating the economy’s gradual rebound as they plan to expand, and San Diego County remains an appetizing target market.
Corner Bakery Café, Naked Pizza, and The Counter Custom Built Gourmet Burgers have debuted or announced planned openings of restaurants around the county in recent months.
Also setting its sights on the local market is Texas-based CiCi’s Pizza, a buffet-style chain geared to families on a budget.
The company, formally known as CiCi Enterprises LP, recently announced plans to add 500 franchised locations in the next 10 years, with at least four and as many as 10 or more expected to be opened in San Diego County.
The company opened its first Southern California location in 2009 on University Avenue in San Diego.
