Five Kentucky Fried Chicken locations in Western Massachusetts and two in Northern Connecticut have closed due to the retirement of longtime franchisee Jesse Lanier.
Three of the restaurants that are closing are located on Boston Road, State Street, and Liberty Street in Springfield. The other four are located in East Longmeadow, Palmer, Enfield, and Windsor Locks, Connecticut. All seven KFC franchises were owned and managed by Lanier, 70.
90 employees work in the locations, and in a news release sent to 22News, Lanier said he would try to help the workers find jobs elsewhere. “We will work with the Urban League of Springfield and the Future Works career center in helping our employees transition to other opportunities,†Lanier said.
