Franchising For Retirees

A report just released by the Kauffman Foundation found that “near retirees” – aged 55-65 – represent almost 23% of 2010’s new entrepreneurs; up from 14.5% in 1996.

Many new small business and franchise owners within this demographic had been laid off in recent years. They found themselves in the challenging situation of trying to find another job so close to retirement or trying their own hand at a business venture. The recession, no doubt, has had its impact on these numbers, but it seems that there is more at play here than a troublesome economy.

Retiring at the young age of 55… carry on reading.
