Celebrating 50 Years Of Tupperware

The Telegraph:

MY FRIEND had started with Tupperware three months before and I was working part time in a coffee shop in Epping.

The owner kindly closed the shop and let me throw the party. It was April 18, 1962. We had raisin toast and cups of coffee and about eight or nine people came. It was fairly limited as there weren’t a great deal of items. We had to explain it a bit to people because they were used to cheap plastic. It was an easy start and I made lots of new friends.

Later, I was selling Tupperware during the day while the girls were at school and would be back home in time for them when they came back. The only time I stopped was when I had a cancer scare. I didn’t have to worry about anything until I was well enough to come back.

I was a manager for 36 years during the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s and was in charge of about 35 people. Women used to have a shower tea at home before they were married and I used to sell about $2000$3000 worth of Tupperware.

I still have friends from Tupperware, one of them, Pat, has just celebrated her 80th birthday. I even had a 21st birthday hostess party thrown by my best friend.

Lesley and I were in our 40s and decided to travel while we were healthy and still could, so Tupperware sent me all over the world. We did it for 15 years in a row, Europe, America, England several times.

I only stopped when my husband passed away about 10 years ago.
