Hot cross buns are in hot demand in the lead-up to the Easter break.
Yesterday’s call for 800 hot cross buns at Bakers Delight, Kawana Shoppingworld, was nothing compared to the expected 6500 to 8000 to come out of the ovens on Thursday.
Franchisee Ryan Kirkham called the day before Good Friday a baker’s busiest day of the year.
“Christmas is just a bit behind,†he said.
“We will do about a week’s trade in a day on Thursday.â€
Despite the emergence of new flavours chocolate and mocha in the past few years, Mr Kirkham said customers were keen to buy the traditional fruit hot cross buns. Read on.
