Motherhood Opens A World Of Opportunity

Amanda Waring didn’t like giving up her jewelry, in fear her young child would destroy the delicate pieces with one tug or chew. So, she formulated an alternative option that would look good, and it would be baby resistant. That is how Mama Jewels was born, reports This Is Nottingham.

The necklaces combine robustness and glamour. The pretty designs have been strength-tested and won’t break no matter how hard they are pulled.

They are also non-toxic, safe if the baby chews or sucks them and can be washed and sterilised.

The Mama Jewels range also includes breastfeeding bracelets to remind mums which side to use next.

It was after being made redundant while on maternity leave with her second son Finley that Amanda began relying on the jewellery to make a living. The 38-year-old, of Annesley Woodhouse, now spends two days on the business while Finley, 18 months, and Jonah, four, are at nursery, plus “overtime” in the evenings.

“I am still home-based and I have a couple of people who help out making jewellery and with sales,” said Amanda, who has won contracts with Craze Maternity and JoJo Maman Bebe. She won Best New Business 2011 in the Mansfield 2020 Business Awards.
