Section Of Canadian Highway Dedicated to Alexander Graham Bell

Mr. Bell was an amazing inventor and an important piece of history for Brantford. The actual name of the highway will not change, but signs will be places along it displaying the dedication.

“This will be used as a marketing tool for us to draw people to the Alexander Graham Bell Homestead,” Levac said. “It will celebrate a great inventor and a great man.”

Levac said each interchange sign would cost about $2,500 to install. He said all municipalities involved have expressed support.

The mayor said it is only fitting to pay tribute to Alexander Graham Bell.

“The telephone remains one of the greatest inventions in human history,” Friel said. “Being able to have the highway designated is a testament to Alexander Graham Bell’s genius and the significance of his activities in his home in Brantford.”
