Is Your Biz Holding You Prisoner?

As every entrepreneur knows, you must be dedicated to your business if you are going to succeed. Sometimes a good business can take a lot of time to build an run. So, at what point does it begin to hold you prisoner?

At some point, business owners must take some time for themselves. However, the first step is to realize you are not alone.

“No one can do it as well as me”

The first thing you need to get over is the idea that no one your team can perform certain tasks – or run your business – as well as you can. Whether or not that is true, the reality is that if you keep thinking this way, you’ll never find out. Your team will never feel empowered to do the job and they may not give 100 per cent if they know you’ll always be there in the background to pick up the pieces.

Lack of an attractive alternative

Another reason it may be hard to pull yourself away from your business is simply because you don’t have an appealing alternative activity in your life. I know many entrepreneurs who bury themselves in their businesses because they don’t bother cultivating a life outside of work.

If this sounds like you, it might be time to enforce some “time out”. Or let someone help you do this.
