USANA’s Hepasil DTXâ„¢ Liver Health Supplement is Now Patent Pending

PR Newswire:

USANA Health Sciences, Inc., a global nutritional supplement company, today announced that it has filed two new U.S. patents on its popular liver health supplement, Hepasil DTXâ„¢. A science-based company, USANA currently holds patents for Olivol® olive extract, a unique extract that contains antioxidant polyphenols derived exclusively from olives, and its proprietary liquid crystal technology, which is used in USANA’s line of self-preserving Sense skincare products.

Currently, USANA is one of the first companies to manufacture supplements as bi-layer tablets, also known as Nutritional Hybrid Technology. The new patent pending technology covers both the formulation and method of use for Hepasil.

“Our bodies are constantly exposed to oxidative stress and other toxins, but our cells have a mechanism for dealing with this stress,” says Dr. Brian Dixon, USANA Director of Product Innovation. “There’s essentially a switch in each of these protective genes that can be turned on when we’re exposed to these dangerous substances. The significance of Hepasil DTX is that it’s designed to switch on these antioxidant and detoxification genes, allowing our bodies to better help protect itself.”

USANA Executive Director of Research and Development, Dr. John Cuomo, who has authored over 20 scientific papers and holds over 20 United States and European patents, says: “What has made USANA so successful in the past two decades is that our customers trust us to deliver the safest, most effective nutritional products. That’s why we’ve made such a substantial investment in innovative product development and creating new and unique technologies. These patents are a demonstration of our advancements and allow us to protect valuable research we’ve been conducting and will be conducting for years to come.”
