On the heels of a California expansion, Ed Phillips signs on to open Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in his hometown of Porterville.

“I have been in the restaurant business for fifteen years and have always been interested in barbecue,” said Phillips, who will own and operate the franchise location. “I settled on Dickey’s Barbecue because I like the concept and believe it will be profitable.”

Currently, there are nine locations in California, with 11 more scheduled to open before the end of 2011, but this is the first Dickey’s location for Phillips.

“I like the support staff at Dickey’s. They have all their ducks in a line. Paired with hard work, this guarantees a successful franchise,” said Phillips, who previously owned a catering business and successful pizza franchise.
