Niche Biz: Helping Inventors Invent

Whether you’re looking for a place to build your invention or have it manufactured, it is a long process that can intimidate the toughest inventor. However, one company is helping local inventors find the manufactures they need, but they’re also renting out space for inventions that just need a little more refining and bigger tools, reports The Charlotte Observer.

The Waxhaw business, works with large companies all over the world. Asia America Corporation helps local inventors and entrepreneurs, some who had previously been working in their garages, make and sell their products.

“The obstacle is always how to take your idea and get it produced,” Kniegge said.

Inventors often don’t have contacts or suppliers to get their products made and marketed, he said.

Bill Carney began developing his ProPlugger, in his garage in Waxhaw. ProPlugger is a landscape tool that allows gardeners to create planting holes without bending over.

He now rents space from Asia America and said the company’s owners have been generous in allowing him to use their machinery – including a robotic welder – to refine his products. Asia America’s application engineers have offered him advice and help with the machine for free.

Carney and Kniegge said Asia America’s help for inventors and entrepreneurs is creating a new camaraderie among business owners in the region.
