Sites like Facebook and Twitter are helping businesses explode. To stress the importance of social media use by franchises, FranchiseHelp.com used the 2011 Franchise 500 list complied by Entrepreneur Magazine and re-sorted the list to create the 2011 Franchises in Social Media Ranking: Franchises on Facebook, which lists franchises that have made the best use of social media.

According to the social media list, McDonald’s held the Number One spot with the highest number of Facebook likes and Fan Count.

This franchise makes great use of distributing coupons to its Facebook fans which they can redeem at restaurants for discounts or free food items.

Food is well-liked on social media, apparently; Buffalo Wild Wings came second and Subway held the third spot on the list.
