Sheila Bianconi has never been the type to sit around and wait for her Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) cheque to arrive. Instead, she works for it.
Since April, she has been a Passion Party consultant and team leader. Passion parties offer sexual enhancement products, including various toys and lotions.
“I fell in love with the Passion Party mission statement,†she said. Her background in sales and volunteer experience in broadcast, combined with her interest in women’s issues, made it a perfect fit.
“(Passion Parties) correlate with all the other things I’ve done in my life,†she said. “It just made sense.â€
Now she does parties on her own time, when her schedule allows. She can make her own hours, which suits her conditions well, and it allows her to make as much money as she needs.
Thanks to financial help provided by ODSP, she was able to make a go of it. The support program offers entrepreneurs $500 towards the start-up of their businesses. With the money, Bianconi was able to purchase a starter kit, as well as business cards.
“It only took me one party to make back what the initial investment had been,†she said.
