The Kauffman Foundation is in the process of building an entrepreneur walk of fame to honor those people who helped shape business our world with their companies and innovations. Some of the names on the list?
Thomas Edison, founder of 14 companies included the predecessors of General Electric, holder of 1,093 patents
Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, world’s biggest software company
David Packard and Bill Hewlett, founders of Hewlett-Packard, leader in development of computing hardware
Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple Computer
Mitch Kapor, founder of Lotus Development Corp., whose software made PCs ubiquitous in the business world
Bob Swanson, co-founder of Genentech, which started the biotech industry
“These are iconic individuals who changed the world not just through their technology but by being role models for others,” said Bill Aulet, managing director of the MIT Entrepreneurship Center.
