People have been inventing new ways to stay dry for a while, but Athanasia Leivaditou’s combined umbrella rain coat takes it to a whole new level.
Athanasia Leivaditou’s creation is a waterproof Macintosh with a umbrella-like section that goes over your head.
The hood is supported so that it sits firm and is rigid enough to withstand high winds.
The sides are also angled so that the rain will flow off rather than into your face.
Miss Leivaditou said the Umbrella Coat Raincoat would allow people to carry their shopping without the need to waste one hand holding up an umbrella.
The coat, which resembles something between a radiation suit and the costume for Darth Vader, can be customised depending on how bad the rain is.
The legs can go down to the wearer’s shoes or can be altered to come up high on the legs if it is only a light shower.
There is also a clear plastic membrane going from the hood to the face and toggles keep it tight in high winds.
