Central Iowa McDonald’s Franchisee Retirees, 11 Locations Change Owners

DesMoinesRegister.com (blog):

A Central Iowa franchisee who owned and operated McDonald’s restaurants for 40 years retired this month and sold his seven McDonald’s locations.

John Dasher opened his first McDonald’s on Duff Avenue in Ames in 1971. Dasher since opened six other locations in Ames, Boone, Carroll, Nevada and Story City. He has sold all seven of his locations to franchisees Jim and Karen Baker, who in turn sold their four locations in the Des Moines area.

Dasher originally operated a Mr. Steak franchise in Ames before obtaining a McDonald’s franchise.

The Bakers have been McDonald’s franchisees for 25 years.
