Bakers Delight On Roll After GFC Refresh

Bakers Delight is defying the gloom infecting the retail sector, forecasting strong growth in its franchisee base next year.

The Australian-owned baking company signed on 35 new franchisees in the six months from June 30 and is expecting that number to grow to 100 by the end of the financial year.

That growth is a significant increase on the 70 franchisees the company signed up in the 2010 financial year.

“We have the luxury of selling a product that is a solid staple and in the past few years there’s been growing consumer demand for our fresh-baked bread. Bakers have always stood up well in tough times and we’re showing that,” Bakers Delight general manager for company growth Gabby Kelly said. Read more.
