Frisch’s Reports Higher Earnings

Frisch’s Restaurants, Inc. this morning reported higher earnings and revenue for its fiscal third quarter that ended March 6. Net earnings for the quarter increased 52 percent to $2.8 million compared to $1.9 million last year, as a result of increased sales, improved margins and a lower effective tax rate. Diluted net earnings per share increased 54 percent to 57 cents per share, from 37 cents per share last year.

Revenue increased 1.4 percent to $68.4 million from $67.5 million in last year’s third quarter. In the company’s Big Boy segment, same-store sales were up 1.7 percent in the quarter while overall sales increased 2.5 percent as a result of new store openings. Same store sales in our Golden Corral segment increased 12.4 percent in the quarter.
