About 25 years ago, Deborah and Charles Takacs were looking for a way to exit tobacco farming. The solution presented itself in the form of a franchise in a new fast food offering, New York Fries.

“We liked the brand. It’s a simple concept and it was easy to operate,” Ms. Takacs says. “We knew that a good fry is sellable.”

While the couple liked the business, relations with the franchisor proved tense. Ms. Takacs says the couple sued three times. The first two cases settling and a third one is pending. New York Fries has served the couple with a notice terminating their franchise agreements in 2010. Full post.
