Subway Franchisee Buys Honolulu’s Pee-Wee Drive

Bizjournals.com (blog):

Fans of the popular Pee-Wee Drive-in in Honolulu will soon have to trade those high-calorie but rather tasty barbecue hamburgers and plate lunches for the more healthier option of a Subway sandwich.

Multiple Subway franchisee Sandra Burgess told PBN that she has bought the landmark hole-in-the-wall restaurant at 1602 S. King St. and plans to open her fourth sandwich franchise under the name of Subway Punahou Inc.

This will be her first free-standing location, which will open to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

The general contractor for the renovation of the building is Honolulu-based C & C Construction Inc., and the architect is Honolulu’s Ushijima Architects Inc. It will open for business on Monday.
