Divorce Hotel Biz

Sydney Morning Herald:

Ah, le divorce. The dissolution of a marriage is so inconvenient, so uncomfortable, so… lacking in continental breakfasts. Well, at least it was until one Dutch entrepreneur/genius named Jim Halfens decided to open the Divorce Hotel, a one stop shop (actually, there are six branches conveniently scattered across the Netherlands) for couples looking for quickie divorces.

“They arrive on Friday and we give them everything they need to leave Sunday with their divorce papers,” says Halfens. “Divorces can cost a lot of money and a lot of time. Here, it’s done in three days.”

Couples who check into the hotel are given access to lawyers, mediators, psychologists and separate accommodations.

The price of the hotel package varies depending on the complexity of the couple’s assets, but generally falls somewhere between $2,500 and $10,000.
