Water Challenge: Fight Rising Water & Win Money

If you’ve had an idea on how to stop rising water from invading coastal communities and you have yet to act on it, now may be the perfect time to do so. The Idea Village and Greater New Orleans Foundation are working together to give one lucky entrepreneur $50,000 to help him or her turn that idea into a business that will help south Louisiana fight against the rising water.

Water-management issues are among the greatest global challenges, and in south Louisiana, we’ve felt the direct impacts of poor water management, contest officials said. The goal of this program is to encourage local entrepreneurs to develop and expand high-growth ventures in the water industry.

“We want people to trust their crazy ideas,” said Grasshopper Mendoza, chair of the Horizon Initiative Water Management Committee and the 2011 Water Challenge executive-in-residence.

The deadline for entries is midnight on February 21st.
