The Moscow News:
Leonardo da Vinci’s 500-year-old inventions come to life in a new exhibition at the Experimentanium, which is showcasing models built according to plans by the Renaissance master. Like everything at the museum, visitors can touch the displays with their hands, provi ding a kid-friendly entree into basic mechanics.
Though the fanciful inventions in da Vinci’s notebooks included flying machines and steam cannons, those on display at the Experimentanium are fit for use in a confined space. The designs were brought to life by a team of Russian engineers, who shrunk or enlarged the scale of some models depending on their size. The designs were realized using only materials available during da Vinci’s time, and objects are accompanied by copies of their original sketches for comparison.
