A New Twist On Eyeglass Repair

If you are tethered to your eyeglasses so you can see like I am, I do not need to tell you how frustrating it is when they fall apart. Many people have searched for ways to make it easier to put glasses back together, and Nancy Tedeschi is no different.

Nancy created an eyeglass repair kit that is a little different form what most people find in the store, reports The Wenatchee World.

SnapIt eyeglass repair screws give glasses wearers a way to repair broken eyeglass hinges with easy-to-use screws that take just seconds to install. Last year, it was voted as one of the nation’s top inventions.

For too many years, said Tedeschi, wearers of spectacles have struggled to hold and align broken eyeglass hinges while attempting to thread the teeniest of screws. “For many people, seniors in particular, it’s just an impossible task,” she said.

Her invention attaches that tiny screw atop a thin metal rod that makes the screw easy to hold and even easier to thread through the holes of the hinge. Once threaded, the rod can be gripped and turned to tighten the screw and then snapped off, leaving the screw in place and the hinge repaired.

The invention will be marketed worldwide in a package called the SnapIt Eyeglass Repair Kit, which includes five sizes of screws to accommodate 99 percent of all eyeglasses.

Already, shoppers can find the $4.99 repair kits at Amazon.com and online cataloguers that include Dr. Leonard’s, Carol Wright Gifts and Senior Superstores.
