Founded in 1994, Relocation Strategies (RSI) provides clients with a one-stop non-biased source responsible for planning and managing all aspects of their corporate office, industrial, medical or institutional transition/relocation.

We interviewed Alex Taylor, Director of Franchise Development, and asked him what differentiates RSI among others in its niche, what they tell potential franchisees about the profit potential of opening up one of their franchises and, lastly, what’s next for the franchise, both in the near future and long term.


Give us an overview of your franchise.

Relocation Strategies was founded in 1994 to provide our clients with a one-stop non-biased source responsible for planning and managing all aspects of their corporate office, industrial, medical or institutional transition/relocation. Our clients range in size from 1,000 sq. ft. of space to over 1,000,000 sq. ft. Types of projects we have managed include corporate office, manufacturing, medical, educational, distribution, banking and a variety of other industry categories. We have been involved in hundreds of projects ranging in scope from smaller in-suite renovations to national state-to-state relocations to international projects.

We currently have 10 nationwide locations.

What’s special about the franchise?

Relocation Strategies is unique in several aspects. First and foremost, RSI is positioned as a leader in the marketplace, setting ourselves above any industry competitors. Secondly, RSI is distinctive as a franchisor because of the fact that we only position one franchise location per major metropolitan location. Therefore our partners have the ability to capture and entire territory of revenue possibilities.

How does it compare to its competition?

There is a relatively low level of competition for our business model. Given our 20+ years in this industry and expansive client and vendor roster, we are by far the leader in the commercial transition/relocation market.

What differentiates your franchise among others in your niche?

There are very few companies that provide the niche services that RSI does. So what differentiates us is the unbiased resource aspect of our business model as well as the fact that we franchise national markets.
Who are the key figures within your franchise? 

They key figures in the RSI franchise are myself, Alex Taylor. Tim Haines who is the founder and CEO of the company and Erin Christen who is our finance and operations manager.
What is the total investment to open a franchise?

The total investment necessary to begin operation of a Relocation Strategies franchised business is $44,500 to $67,700

What do you tell potential franchisees about the profit potential of opening up one of your franchises?

The profit potential of our franchise is truly unparalleled. Given the fact that our services can be utilized with almost every commercial real estate transaction that happens. Also, we do not sell multiple locations per metropolitan market, so there is no internal competition that stymies profit potential.

Potential Relocation Strategies franchisees are business savvy professionals who have the ability to develop this business through sales and networking skills. This is a true entrepreneur’s franchise and requires the drive associated with a high revenue company that works with C-level professionals.

What type of initial training do you offer new franchisees?

At Relocation Strategies, we believe that a quality and comprehensive training program is vital to the success of your franchise location. The support franchisees will receive on an ongoing basis is the foundation of a dynamic business and will be the cornerstone for the success of the business operation for years to come. What advice can you offer potential franchisees?

My advice to potential franchisees is to not simply evaluate purchasing a franchise model that provides the quickest returns. Rather, focus on finding a franchise model that allows you to do something you enjoy and has a long-term success plan.
