A Brief Guide to WhatsApp for Business

WhatsApp is a messaging client that was developed by WhatsApp Inc. in January 2009. Almost immediately after its launch, WhatsApp gained widespread acceptance.

As a matter of fact, today WhatsApp boasts more than one billion monthly users from countries all around the world. Users can send texts and make both video and voice calls. The app has become an important messaging tool for both personal and business use. The best part is that it is free to use.

A Completely Safe System

The app is protected with an end-to-end encryption system. This means that only the sender and his or her recipients can open the sender’s messages.

The encryption system is based on QR codes. In fact, everyone on WhatsApp has a QR code. You can find your own QR code under the Encryption tab when you click on Contact Info.

Because of the app’s encryption system, no one but you and your recipient will be able to access the messages that you are exchanging.

About Making Calls

With WhatsApp, you can manage all your phone numbers in a single place. For example, if you want to make a phone call, just tap the Phone button and select the person you want to call from your Contact list.

WhatsApp will then give you the option to make either a voice or a video call. It also displays your call history. This way, you’ll know when your contact calls you. You’ll also be able to see if you have any missed calls from a particular contact.

Sometimes, you might need to record a video or voice call you make on WhatsApp. However, the app does not provide an option for you to record your call. Therefore, if you want to record a call, you will need to use a screen recorder.

If you are using a desktop device, you can use a desktop screen recorder for recording Whatsapp calls. On the other hand, if you are on a mobile phone, you will need to download the screen recorder app.

Messaging Options

You can send a message on WhatsApp to a single individual or to a group of people. The app can be used on both Android devices and on desktop computers. However, it is not like Skype where you have a username.

WhatsApp uses your phone number instead. Therefore, in order to keep your account active, you need to maintain the phone number you sign up with. Also, when you message another person, you send the message through their phone number in your contact book.

Permanent Login

With WhatsApp, you can stay logged in permanently. That is, you don’t have to re-enter your username and password to log in, even occasionally. However, it’s also important to note that the app automatically deletes any contact who does not have the app installed. But it does support the function of importing your phone contacts.

Moreover, WhatsApp will keep all your messages in a single thread even if you switch your SIM card. Additionally, in your profile, you can set your location. You will also be able to set custom wallpaper on the app. Additionally, it saves all your chats, and you can exchange contacts with your contacts.

Customizing Your Profile and More

You can customize your profile by posting a temporary status with a short message, emoji, or video clip. A status will stay on your profile for 24 hours. You also have options for setting who can see your status.

The app also tells you about your contacts’ activities. For example, two blue check marks mean that your message has been read. Two gray check marks mean it is not read but has been delivered to the recipient. The app shows the word “typing” when a contact is replying to your message.

Storing Media on WhatsApp

You can find all the media that are sent over the app in the Phone library. But if you don’t want the media to be automatically saved in the Phone folder, you can uncheck the Save to Camera Roll setting in Settings > Chats.

The messenger can accept photo, video, and file attachments, too. Just click the Attach button and select the types of files you want to upload. However, files like videos and photos require an Internet connection to download.

Using WhatsApp for Your Business

If yours is a small business, you can use WhatsApp to provide fast customer support. For example, use text, audio, and video to respond to customers’ queries. With WhatsApp you can have one-on-one communication with a customer and even promote your self with whatsapp marketing software.

Also, you can create a questionnaire for a group to get feedback from your customers. Then use the feedback to make improvements in your products and services.

Customers can message you about their interest in a particular product and you can provide an immediate answer. You can also use the status feature to share a promotional code about a flash sale, for instance, you might be having in your store.

Most people are on their phones all day so they will surely see the promotion on your WhatsApp status. In the status, you could also put a link to a demo product video so that people can get to know how a new product that you are launching works.
