"Mompreneurs" Earning Extra Money Through Their Hobbies

WIS News 10:

During these tough economic times, plenty of people are getting creative to make ends meet.

Even some stay-at-home moms are thinking outside of the box to earn some extra money by taking on the title of “Mompreneur.”

Lexington mom Tonya Douglass knows all about a budget crunch.

“I can’t work a full time job. I can’t afford to put my kids in day care,” Douglass said.

So Douglass decided to be a personal trainer, earn extra money and have a flexible schedule.

“I’m making money and transforming lives,” Douglass said of her success. Not only has she been making money, but she’s lost 70 pounds herself.

It was a hobby that also got Tracy Anderson into photography. She owns “Studio A Distinctive Photography.” After 15 years, owning her own business just clicks.

“There’s always a way to make money. And you get to connect to other people doing something you love,” Anderson said.

That’s the same recipe for success for Delana Wood from Camden. She is a consultant for “Taste of Home Entertaining.” She helps to sell party dishes and home accessories.

“It gives you a sense of pride. I’m achieving goals and helping others do the same,” Wood said.
