Mums Work To Stay Home

Daily Mercury:

The smell of success is sweet for Deborah Allan and Eloise Leary.

The new mothers, who both live in rural areas, faced a challenge when they wanted to re-enter the workforce but maintain family priorities.

As an outdoor education instructor, Mrs Allan knew when she fell pregnant with her first child more than two years ago she would have to find another job to work in with her new lifestyle.

Now, 20 months on, Mrs Allan has a successful online business, perfumeprincess.biz, and is able to work from home and enjoy her baby daughter, Saskia.

Mrs Leary also turned to an online business, Arbonne Skin Care, after having her first child, Harrison, eight months ago.

“Living in Nebo and trying to find a job that would suit a baby was going to be difficult. My husband and I talked about driving into Mackay for work and putting Harrison into childcare but at the end of the day we would have been left with $10 in net income,” she said.

“With my Arbonne business I still have an income without a nine to five job, I work from home and all I need is a telephone and internet while I am still spending quality time with Harrison.”
