Lucy’s Headed To Baton Rouge

Lucy’s Retired Surfer Bar and Restaurant is expanding to Baton Rouge and growth in Texas and beyond may be in the works.

The company signed a lease on for a site on Third Street in Baton Rouge in recent weeks, said Susan Rampick, who with her husband, Bruce, and two California-based partners owns Lucy’s in New Orleans’ Warehouse District.

Details are still being worked out, Susan Rampick said, but the Baton Rouge restaurant could open as soon as September.
The New Orleans Lucy’s, which opened in 1993, was the second restaurant of that name for the Rampicks, whose first Lucy’s opened in New York in 1985.

Susan Rampick said the couple initially operated a New Orleans-style restaurant called Ruby’s River Road Cafe before shifting to Lucy’s, which specializes in a coastal California, surfer-style fare.

The Rampicks moved to New Orleans and opened another Lucy’s after the lease on their New York restaurant expired.
