Franchisees’ Lawsuit Holds BK To The Fire

The next time you see a briefcase-toting guy in a suit at an Upstate Burger King, chances are he’s there for a legal consultation rather than a Whopper.

The chain’s franchisees, collectively known as the National Franchisee Association, has filed a suit in U.S. District Court in Miami, arguing that the company does not have the authority to “dictate maximum pricing.”

The corporate folks at BK last month began requiring all franchisees to sell its double cheeseburger for $1 even though they twice voted during the summer against the promotion.
