Mom Succeeds With Saucy Business

PNJ.com:

Sue Shattuck’s sauces are sizzling.

Jars of the Milton native’s ready-to-serve Bayou Creole, Maui Sunset and Milano Marinara sauces are a hot commodity in several area stores. And a recent deal with Whole Foods Market soon will stock San Francisco store shelves with the tasty toppings.

Gourmet Mom’s is the little business that just keeps growing.

“But we’re growing slowly, with lots of control,” Shattuck, a longtime Pensacola resident, warned. “I never want to get to the point where I can’t personally oversee production. These are my products, and I’m very proud of them.”

Gourmet Mom’s Inc. began in 2005. At the time, Shattuck was a single mom with three children and a flair for cooking.

“Living on the Gulf Coast, I love zesty cooking and fresh ingredients,” the 51-year-old explained. “I came up with the different sauce recipes because I couldn’t find what I wanted, or I wanted something better than what was available.”
