Entrepreneur Creates Own Opportunity With Shuttle

Steve Phillips has created a shuttle bus company, ABQ Express, that runs from Farmington to Albuquerque twice a day reports The Daily Times.

Steve Phillips started the business after seeing a niche in the market for a shuttle.

“We’re trying to make it easier to get back and forth to Albuquerque,” he said.

ABQ Express aims to ease the trip to Albuquerque, easily New Mexico’s largest city with 529,000 residents.

Greyhound also offers a route from Farmington to Albuquerque, departing at 11 p.m. and arriving at 2:20 a.m. A standard fare starts at $49.

The ABQ Express shuttle is scheduled to depart Farmington for Albuquerque at 11:30 am. and 5:30 p.m., leaving from Main Street and Orchard Avenue at the parking lot behind H&R Block.

ABQ Express uses a 12-passenger 2010 van. Phillips envisions business groups chartering the van, as well as individual riders. A larger vehicle could be in the future.

“We’ll move up to a shuttle as fast as we can,” he said.
