Hi! I'm Dane Carlson, and welcome to the Business Opportunities Weblog. I've been publishing this website, by myself, and sometimes with the help of others for over twelve years now. You'll notice two things about this site right away:

  • We have tons of content. In fact, since November 2011, I've published more than 26,000 posts on thousands of different business ideas and opportunities.
  • We don't sell much advertising. In late 2013, I realized that by selling advertising, what I was really selling was my readers. In 2014, I've already radically cut down on the number of ads and will hopefully keep cutting.

If you’re a mom who wants to participated in one of the five Moms in Business Unite conferences being held across the US this year, now is the time to register. Anyone that registers early will also receive an “early bird” discount.

The early bird cost is $110 for the full-day San Diego and Boston conferences (Aug. 3 and Oct. 12) and $65 for the half-day conferences in Atlanta (May 19), Denver (Sept. 21) and Detroit (Oct. 19). The cost will increase when “regular” registration begins and on the day of each event.

Applications are now also being accepted for the Inventor Showcase and the MIBU Mompreneur grant. The showcase and grant will give mompreneurs a chance to display their business and win enough money to help them expand on their business.

The Inventor Showcase at each conference will feature five to 10 local inventors, and attendees will vote to determine which one receives the Best New Product or Service of the Year award. The application deadline is March 31 for the Atlanta conference and June 30 for the other four.

The MIBU Mompreneur Grant will be awarded in San Diego and Boston to a successful mom business owner who’s seeking to expand her business. The application deadline is June 30.
