Growing A Business And Family

As any mom-entrepreneur can tell you, caring for a business and a family is hard work. As the founder of The In Style Diva and My Little Diva Accessories, Teana McDonald know this well. According to SunSentinel.com, Teana left the corporate world to start her own business, and have more time for her family in the process.

From the start, McDonald wanted flexibility. Her online business model gives her access where she needs it most — at her finger tips whether she is at home or at her warehouse office space. She avoids overhead costs associated with a store, and avoids the distractions of having a home-based business.

It’s a process, she says. “You need a plan. Surround yourself with well-educated women who have done it — done it wrong and who have failed. You don’t pick up your own mistakes.”

McDonald doesn’t ease up on her message even in a slow economy. Promoting and refreshing her website and networking has paid off this past year in the form of about a 5 percent increase in revenues.

“Think positive. Business times are tough, still I had an increase,” she said. “Have a plan B and don’t be afraid to implement it if necessary.”
