Mom’s Biz Gets Kids Cooking

Parents are always looking for fun, safe activities for their kids. What could be more fun than cooking?

According to Pennington Post, Chris Toto had trouble keeping the doors of her business open a short while back. Although her physical shop at to shut down, she opened up her virtual doors under a new name: Bite Size Chefs.

During the last few months of business for the Around the Table shop, Toto says that the majority of sales were already being processed through the company’s website. She and her associates would go to work in the morning and do web orders all day, pulling items from the shelves to be shipped.

“I thought, ‘This is a pretty expensive warehouse,’” Toto says.

Online, Toto says, was where the market was telling the business to go. And with kids’ cooking products grabbing most of the attention, the business could be streamlined even further.

Bite Size Chef’s target audience, Toto says, is moms with young kids. The site recently expanded its inventory to include treats for kids with food allergies, and some of the top-selling products are kids’ baking kits, kids’ aprons and kids’ kitchen utensils.

“I’m really trying to make it a resource for kids who want to cook says Toto,” who spent years working as a personal chef. “I’m trying to move into the tween and teen markets, and include things like how-to videos and links to events like book signings and cooking classes. I want to make it more than just an online store.”
