Teen Entrepreneur Opens Her Own Clothing Store

Windsor Star:

While most of her friends are working in factories or fast-food restaurants for the summer, a young Belle River District high school graduate has opened her own women’s clothing store.

With a family background of business and entrepreneurship, Charlotte Fortin has launched Wound Up in the heart of Belle River’s business district in an old renovated building just steps from the main street.

“It’s scary at times but it’s a lot of fun to take on this much responsibilty,” said Fortin. “What have I got to lose except years of debt!”

The business venture was inspired by Fortin’s trip to California last summer which gave her an opportunity to hit some funky, eclectic boutiques in Laguna Beach.

“They were great, they were small but really worked at attracting clientele,” said Fortin. “I’ve always wanted to do something like this but always thought it would be on the design side. But when I came back, I started looking around for a place to open and found this place.”
