Americans are now looking beyond the idea of relaxing post their retirements! Hanging one’s boots past the retirement age is not the only option; studies suggest that an increasing number of Americans feel the need or urge to pursue second careers after their retirement. For some, post retirement career is a necessity whereas for many it is an opportunity to live their dreams with nothing to hold them back. Whereas a study conducted by the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) in 2012 treats this as an outcome of economic uncertainties, another study’s findings published in the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology surfaced the positives of the trend, suggesting that post retirement careers resulted in better physical and mental health for Americans.
