There’s more than one way to serve up a good steak.
December marks the 11th anniversary of Texas Steak Express, which defies the norm in Abilene that steaks are best grilled over mesquite and served in a rustic restaurant setting. The establishment specializes in wet-sauce rib-eyes, sirloins and other steaks chargrilled and delivered to a customer’s doorstep or business.
Rounding out the menu are chicken breast filet, cheeseburgers, sandwiches, salads, salmon, shrimp, Buffalo wings and – by customer request – Philly Express cheese steak. Side options include baked potato and broccoli.
Texas Steak Express expanded into San Angelo in 1999, and two locations in Lubbock, which opened in 2006 and 2007. Sales for all four stores are expected to be $5 million this year and grow to $7 million annually when locations in Midland and Odessa open next year, said founder Kyle Walker.
He was a market leader for 11 corporate-owned steakhouses in North and South Carolinas before moving to Abilene, where his mom lives. Read on…
