When it comes to laundry, smell is crucial. Getting the right smell is an art form, says Dan Herman, a founding partner of Lazybones, which has been providing laundry services to college students for 15 years.
The Newton native didn’t even know how to do laundry when he and his partners launched the business as graduates fresh out of the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He quickly became an expert after washing other people’s clothes 15 hours a day.
Water temperature matters. So does detergent. Drying clothes too long takes out the all important scent that convinces customers they’re getting their money’s worth.
Herman has been thinking a lot lately about these sorts of things and others that have made his business successful because he’d like to franchise the concept. Read full story.
