A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit against a division of bankrupt Brooke Corp., deciding that the accusations brought by scores of customers were vague and did not meet legal standards to allege fraud and racketeering.
So ends a case brought by 127 businesses and individuals who bought agencies from beleaguered Brooke Corp. but then thought they were defrauded.
The suit in U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas accused Aleritas Capital Corp., Brooke Corp.’s lending arm, of artificially inflating the value of the agencies it sold to the plaintiffs through its franchising process.
