First Taste Of Jimmy John’s Franchising Whets Appetite

If taking over a restaurant is the true test of business acumen, then Brian Schaaf passed both the midterm and the final exam.

Schaaf, 25, was fresh out of college when he bought the Jimmy John’s sandwich shop franchise in Deerfield Township two years ago. He’s increased sales by 50 percent, cut costs and is finalizing plans to open his second store, in West Chester, in January.

But this is not the typical college grad in the restaurant business. Before Schaaf took over Jimmy John’s, it had been operated by an out-of-town franchisee, he said. Continue reading this post.
