Chop House Replaces Uno Grill

Reading Eagle:

The Uno Chicago Grill in Broadcasting Square Shopping Center has closed, and a new restaurant is opening today in the same Spring Township location.

Mark D. Kramer, a spokesman for Pizza by Pubs Inc., the Wyomissing-based franchise owner of the Uno restaurant, said Mason’s Chophouse will be open later today for dinner. Thereafter, it will be open for lunch and dinner.

Kramer said that Pizza by Pubs had been working toward a conversion of the restaurant even before Uno’s Chapter 11 Jan. 20 bankruptcy filing.

He said the company has not had time to substantially renovate the building.

“We have not made a lot of cosmetic changes at this time,” he said. “We wanted to kind of get out from under the Uno umbrella and get our concept in place.”

The franchisee has two other Uno locations, in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Charlotte, N.C., that it has converted to the Mason’s concept, Kramer said. It also is a T.G.I. Friday’s franchisee.
