WA today:

If a dispute occurs between you (the franchisee) and the franchisor and it cannot be resolved, the Office of the Mediation Adviser (OMA) may be able to assist you. The OMA has a specialist panel of mediators across Australia who are trained to mediate franchise disputes. There is a fee once the mediator is appointed.

What to do…

• Visit the Office of the Mediation Adviser to discuss your mediation options.

• Read the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC’s) fact sheet on Resolving franchising disputes.

• See the Dispute resolution page in our Fair trading topic for information on dispute resolution and handling.

• Consult a business adviser or solicitor for advice.
