Quiznos Franchisee Rescues Canada’s Hoagie Hero

The Canadian news wires are abuzz with news of a sandwich-shop worker who was fired for giving out free subs to victims of a fire ― and a franchisee of the Denver-based Quiznos chain who came to the rescue.

According to the Montreal Gazette and numerous other north-of-the-border news outlets, Heidi Heise had been working for 10 months at a Subway outlet in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, when she handed out free subs to two of her neighbors who had been left homeless by an apartment fire earlier this month.

“I knew they had no food, no money and nowhere to live, so I gave them each a six-inch sub [that] I was supposed to write down as my employee meal,” Heise said.

But Heise failed to record that she had taken the subs, and the store’s general manager fired her for theft. Read more.
