One restaurant closed in Lakeland on Thursday, and another will do the same in a couple of weeks.
The Golden Corral on South Florida Avenue has shut down permanently, and Good Buddies BBQ in downtown Lakeland plans to close July 3.
Local managers for Golden Corral could not be reached for comment, but a company official said the franchise location closed because of an apparent lease dispute.
“It is part of a strategic move. That’s an older location and they elected to close it, I guess, based on lease issues,” said Bob McDevitt, senior vice president of franchising for Raleigh, N.C.-based Golden Corral.
