Subway Turns Trash Into Treasure With Fashion Show For Franchisees

Fans of the TV show “Project Runway” have seen plenty of unusual outfits, crafted with efficiency and creativity, paraded across their TV sets. But they probably haven’t seen many outfits that are this creative:

Sandwich chain Subway decided to host a fashion show at its recent world franchisee convention in Chicago where the models wore clothes created from recycled Subway packages.

Nearly 5,000 people from 56 countries flocked to the McCormick Place Convention Center to share franchising tips – and to check out the unique fashions crafted by Chicago costume designer Elsa Hiltner.

Apparently, one of the biggest sources of “fabric” was the Subway cookie bag. The bags were used in at least two articles of clothing – a bodice and a looped skirt.
