McDonald’s Agrees Franchise Deal With Roadchef

Telegraph.co.uk:

The agreement will see McDonald’s replacing 10 existing Wimpy outlets in a 20-year deal and could lead to agreements with other roadside service companies. The next two years will see £12m spent on overhauling the facilities at the 10 sites, with the remaining outlets receiving a makeover from 2012.

The news came as McDonald’s announced a 10pc gain in third-quarter profit to $1.4bn (£888m) after luring more customers with new menu items in the UK and America.

Jill McDonald, chief executive of McDonald’s UK, said the Roadchef deal was part of the burger giant’s strategy to “pick up the pace” of growth on the UK’s motorways.
