Quake Takes It Toll On Franchises

Stuff.co.nz:

An April franchising survey shows a huge drop in confidence of those in franchised businesses on the coattails of the devastating Christchurch quake in February.

The data from the Franchising Confidence Index shows one in four respondents, which include both franchisors and franchisees, closed at least one outlet in Canterbury, some permanently.

The survey, conducted three times a year, shows franchisor sentiment towards general business conditions is down considerably from a net positive 30 per cent in January across the country to a net minus 3 per cent. More.
