Essex-based Zing Leisure is one of Burger King’s largest UK franchisees, operating 21 restaurants across the south east of England, Cornwall and the Midlands including Burger King’s flagship store in London’s Leicester Square. The company currently employs more than 400 people and has an annual turnover of £19m.
Django Fung, managing director of Zing Leisure, says the support from Clydesdale Bank will provide the company with a more flexible capital structure, including banking facilities worth almost £3m, which will allow the company to develop further as it capitalises on Burger King’s strategy of increasing the number of franchised outlets in the UK.
All of Zing Leisure’s 21 stores have either been completely refurbished or are earmarked for refurbishment in the near future. This includes their restaurant in Stratford, close to the Olympic Park, which underwent a full refurbishment and enjoyed a 70% increase in turnover in July compared to the same month last year. The refurbishment was financed as part of the move to Clydesdale Bank.
